Manitoba to Launch New Reservation System Ahead of 2023 Camping Season

The Manitoba government has announced the launch of a new park reservation service that aims to provide an enhanced booking experience for campers ahead of the 2023 camping season.

According to a press release, the reservation system will be launched to provide campers with a modern, responsive, and easy-to-navigate service they can rely on for years.

The initiative is in response to the growing demand for campgrounds in Manitoba, with over 100,000 campsite reservations made each year at 46 campgrounds located within 28 different provincial parks.

The new reservation system, which is expected to remain similar to last year’s policy and parameters, will have staggered campground booking opening days to cater to different regions, with the first set of bookings opening on April 3 for all cabins, yurts, and group use areas.

Subsequent bookings for different regions and campgrounds will follow on April 5, 11, 12, 13, and 14, respectively.

To save time and make the reservation process smoother, campers are encouraged to create a new account before booking dates, and the system will be open for new account creations starting from March 27.

The government will also provide additional information before the opening of the new reservation service to guide campers with account creation and offer tips and technical advice for using the parks reservation service on opening days.

The Manitoba government is working with Camis Inc., a company based in Guelph, Ontario, which has over 30 years of experience in providing reservation services to various park systems in Canada, including Ontario Parks, BC Parks, Nova Scotia Parks, New Brunswick Parks, Yukon Parks, and Newfoundland and Labrador Parks. Camis has also provided call center services to Manitoba Parks for the past two seasons.

The Natural Resources and Northern Development Minister, Greg Nesbitt, expressed excitement about the new parks reservation service, noting that Manitobans treasure provincial parks, and the new system will provide them with an enhanced park reservation experience to plan for enjoyment of the beautiful summers in Manitoba and make great camping memories.

The minister also highlighted that the government would closely monitor feedback from campers to refine and enhance the system continually, making it more efficient and easy to use for everyone.

Launching the new parks reservation service in Manitoba and the continued efforts of the Manitoban government to provide access to the great outdoors is a positive development for campers and will also benefit private campground owners and operators in Canada.

With its modern features, easy-to-navigate interface, and responsiveness, the system promises to provide a better camping experience for everyone.
